Happiness and why you should choose it.

Happiness I have come to understand is a personal choice and decision. Now lets understand what the two terms mean:

Choice:
  • Choice refers to the act of selecting or picking one option from among several alternatives.
  • It involves evaluating different possibilities and making a selection based on personal preferences, desires, or values.
  • Choices can be simple or complex, ranging from everyday decisions like what to wear or what to eat, to more significant life choices such as career paths or relationships.
  • Choices often involve weighing the pros and cons of each option and considering the potential consequences of each choice.
Decision:
  • Decision refers to the process of making a choice or reaching a conclusion after careful consideration or deliberation.
  • It involves analyzing information, assessing risks, and determining the best course of action based on available evidence or information.
  • Decisions are typically more deliberate and intentional than choices, often requiring critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Decisions may also involve setting goals, establishing priorities, and developing plans to achieve desired outcomes.
So, a thoughtful choice of the state of happiness takes a process and careful selection. It doesn't happen by accident. Happiness is important in life because it contributes to overall well-being and quality of life. When we are happy, we experience positive emotions such as joy, contentment, and fulfillment, which have numerous benefits for our mental, emotional, and physical health. Happiness enhances our resilience, improves our relationships, and boosts our productivity and creativity. It also helps to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, leading to better overall health outcomes. Additionally, happiness is contagious, spreading positivity to those around us and creating a ripple effect of well-being in our communities. Ultimately, prioritizing happiness allows us to lead more fulfilling and meaningful lives.
One should choose happiness because it contributes to overall well-being and fulfillment in life. Here are several reasons why choosing happiness is important:

  1. Improved mental and emotional health: Happiness promotes positive emotions such as joy, contentment, and gratitude, which have been linked to lower levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. It can also enhance resilience and coping skills, helping individuals better navigate life's challenges.
  2. Better physical health: Studies have shown that happier individuals tend to have better physical health outcomes, including a stronger immune system, lower risk of chronic diseases, and longer life expectancy.
  3. Enhanced relationships: Happy individuals are more likely to have fulfilling relationships with others. They tend to be more empathetic, compassionate, and supportive, leading to stronger bonds and deeper connections with friends, family, and romantic partners.
  4. Increased productivity and success: Happiness is associated with greater motivation, creativity, and productivity. When individuals are happy, they are more likely to set and achieve goals, perform well at work or school, and pursue their passions with enthusiasm and determination.
  5. Positive impact on others: Happiness is contagious, spreading positivity to those around us. By choosing happiness, individuals can inspire and uplift others, creating a ripple effect of well-being in their communities and beyond.
  6. Greater overall satisfaction and fulfillment: Ultimately, choosing happiness leads to a more fulfilling and meaningful life. When individuals prioritize their happiness and well-being, they are more likely to live authentically, pursue their passions, and savor the present moment, resulting in a deeper sense of satisfaction and fulfillment.

5 Destructive Lies we tell ourselves

The 5 destructive lies we tell ourselves are:

1. I'm Ok
No you are not. Be truthful to yourself for once. who says you must be alright every time? You mustn't be right all the time, you mustn't be fine all the time. You have to be vulnerable sometimes. You might miss an opportunity trying to be OK all the time. No one is perfect.

2. No one will find out
Hell No. No secret is a secret. So far as it's an action. Someone will definitely find out. You can never cover a pregnancy. If we’re ever looking for justification to do something dumb, we usually start here: No one will ever know. True, there might be a thousand variations on that theme, but it almost always comes back to anonymity. That’s why private browsing on the Internet and personal devices such as smartphones and tablets can be some of the most dangerous tools known to humanity. (They’re not necessarily bad, but “personal” devices do have drawbacks.)

3. No one will get hurt
If you react negatively or rashly to a situation, someone will definitely get hurt. If you play roughly, you or someone will get hurt.

4. That's just the way I am
No one is ever born rude, nice, deformed, beautiful, ugly. Life is a choice, your actions are a choice. Often, the easiest way out of dealing with a destructive pattern in our lives is simply to make it an acceptable or unchangeable part of who we are.

5. I can do that tomorrow
Procrastination is a killer of the future. Telling yourself that you’ll make a change tomorrow certainly makes you feel better about today’s failures, but it rarely ever changes us. We must remember that a lack of commitment to change today comes with a steep price

Oldies vs Newbies Songs

Have you ever heard an oldie song, and smile? I do that a lot (am not old at all).

Today in traffic, driving through the Ikoyi link bridge, I was bored of a particluar radio station with their adverts, I decided to tune to another channel, bam it was "My love is your love" by Whitney Houston. Oh, how that song always gets me.

I first heard it from my sister Estelle, growing up then as it was one of her favorite songs. Since then it hasn't left me.

We can't even compare oldies to the new songs all over these days. With the Oldies, the lyrics are clear and makes a whole lot of sense, but with what is everywhere now, Some of the songs out there, I don't even understand their words/lyrics, and when I do, it's just rubbish, silly words that do not make sense (not all the songs ooooooo).

But what do I know self, let me concentrate on my work.

Start of a new Thing

While driving down to work this morning, I thought to myself what my life would be in the next 10years, hmmmmmmm.

I think a lot and I care too much of what people say, so when I have something to say, I first process people's reaction. But I thought to myself, why don't I start putting things down on paper. Many a times I need to express myself or discuss some issues and give someone in need an advice, but fear creeps in. what will people say? how would they see me? they will say, ehe, this woman have come again, some will even sigh. When those thoughts come in, I crawl back to my shell. But you know what, not everyone will like you, you can't possibly be everyone's friend.

My sister always tell me to write down my thoughts because sometimes when I communicate it somewhat comes out negatively.

So today, I take the bold step of saying what's on my mind. We will be talking about everything. I will be taking to a journey through my eyes and thoughts.

Don't worry, I've changed both positive and negative feedbacks are welcomed (but don't judge me too much)
